If you hadn’t heard, I was on Consumer Queen’s Blog Talk Radio Show as a guest host tonight! I had a lot of fun, and learned a whole lot about preventative car maintenance! If you missed it, you definitely should check it out! You’ll learn a lot of really awesome information!
We interviewed Jody DeVere, the President of the Women’s Automotive Association International and CEO of the auto-advice site AskPatty.com and among her list of great advice, she suggested using Groundhog Day as an annual reminder for you to change your wiper blades! Clear visibility while driving is extremely important and can improve reaction times in poor weather conditions.Â
Since winter is not quite over yet here are some tips from Jody DeVere to stay safe while driving in the rain, snow, slush and ice:
•Conduct a regular walk around checking your lights, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid and wiper blades regularly
• Ensure your tires are properly inflated and have sufficient tread
• As the temperature drops keep your gas tank at least half full; the extra gas reduces condensation that can plug your fuel line with ice and stall your engine in cooler weather
• Create an emergency pack; items like a blanket, first aid kit, snacks, bottled water, an ice scraper, flashlight and a bag of kitty litter
Thanks to Rain-X, both Consumer Queen and I are able to give away a Rain-X Car Care Kit that includes a set of Rain-X® Latitudeâ„¢ Wiper Blades specific for your car, a bottle of Rain-X® Weatherbeater® 2-in-1 Glass Cleaner & Rain Repellant, and a bottle of new Rain-X® X-treme Clean to one lucky winner on each of our sites!Â

I get an oil change every 3000 miles. My mechanic said that that is the best tuneup and maintenance that you can give a car.
I have my oil changed every three months regardless, I check my tire pressure once a week and all of my fluids too.
I am actually terrible at maintaining my car. My oil gets changed when light comes on, routine tune-ups just arent in the budget.
I do go to an oil change place that offers free car wash with the service 🙂 Usually have them change my wiper blades and airfilter once a year while I am there. If I win this, I could do it all now, instead of waiting… thank you

Besides the general maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, etc), every time I get gas, I clean my car. I keep Armor All wipes in the glove compartment and wipe down the dash plus the leather. I then go through the car to get every piece of trash, mail or anything else left by my children (petrified chicken nuggets). So once I have filled up, I have a pretty clean looking car which is nice. I check the tire pressure as well every time which can help to save on fuel costs.
I love to multi-task and once I shared this tip with my family, I have all of them doing this now too when they get gas. It’s a great way to pass the time and do a little maintenance.
I also Re-Tweeted this contest but not sure how to post a link other than: http://twitter.com/StacieinAtlanta for my updates.

I have it pretty easy since my hubby is a master tech, he does most of the work for me. I do though make sure to tell him any problems I have right away and keep track of when the problem occurs – like if it’s when the car is cold or hot, in certain road condtions, from a start or on the go, etc.
I sent a tweet also

Hmm…what I do is let it get messy and then clean it really good before a trip! Honestly, I don’t really have time to clean my car.

Susan@my2boyzs last blog post..I have a confession………..
We have four cars in this family and try to maintain them as much as possible. We try to change the oil in our cars as recommended!
The tired on our vehicles are watch closely for wear and tear. During
the winter months, we keep a higher level of gasoline in them so water doesn’t get in the line or if we get lost or stranded in the cold/snow, we
have plenty of gasoline to go on. Please enter me in your fantastic giveaway prize drawing. Many thanks, Cindi
I won a new car in 2007 and I absolutely love it and baby it. To take care of it, I take it in for regular “check-ups”, vacuum it frequently, and wash it. It feels good to keep it in tip top shape – that way it always feels new!

I wash it, vacuum it, check the tires and the oil frequently, and take it for oil changes and recommended maintenance.
Change the oil every 3000 miles. Check the fluids monthly. Check tire pressure monthly. Wash and vacuum too keep it clean.
We use full synthetic oil and change it & the filter every 5k miles, plus check other fluids every month. We also change all other filters at least once a year. Plus we keep the tires properly inflated, keep the vehicles washed & vacuumed inside & out. We also do not allow our two children to eat or drink in the vehicles, which keeps them a lot cleaner!
I keep up with my oil changes and fluids. I wash and vacuum it. other than that I don’t know how to do anything else. Wait I do put gas in it too!
I change the oil every 5,000 miles… I wash it weekly and wax it once a month.
i wash it about once a month and keep the oil fresh =)
my husband actually puts rainx on the windows of all of our cars in the winter time

Sweetly, that is my hubby’s daily "gift" to me – he maintains my car. He keeps it washed, vacuumed, and all bulbs and blades up and running 🙂 I do, however, occasionally pump my own gas 😉
He’d love this prize package!
