Quick and Easy St. Patrick's Day Art

St. Patrick’s Day is quickly coming up, and I love to decorate the house in festive colors! We like simple decorations that are festive, but not overwhelming, and Wall Art has been a big thing lately. Especially Burlap art!

The Walmart Moms were asked to showcase a St. Patrick’s Day craft that costs less than $15, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I quickly made up a shopping list, so I wouldn’t forget anything, and headed out to my local Walmart store! I picked up everything I needed to make a quick and easy Burlap Canvas Painting, and got back home, eager to get working on it!

Here’s what you need:

supplies

Burlap Canvas. I bought the 6×8″ Canvases $3.97 for two.

Acrylic Paint. I bought Kelly Green and Black for 97¢ each and Green Glitter Paint for $1.77

Paint Brushes. I bought a 25 brush Super Value pack for $4.77.

That is it! Those items totaled less than $15, and I can get two art pieces out of it, if I want to!

So, how did I do it? Simple! There are a couple of choices.

Stencils: If you have stencils, or are lucky enough to have a vinyl cutter, you can choose what you’d like your lettering to look like. Place your stencils on the canvas, and if needed, tape them down to keep them from moving. Carefully brush the paint in the stencils, lightly dabbing around the edges to keep it from bleeding under the stencil.

Freehand: If you have a steady hand, you can freehand your letters on the canvas. This is how I did it this time. Don’t put too much paint on your brush. You want to make sure it doesn’t smudge all over the place.

Once you have the lettering done, you need to add that dab of color! I painted a little green Shamrock in my lettering. You can decide where it fits the best. Again, you can stamp, stencil or freehand this. Paint it on in green, and once it dries a little, cover it over in green glitter paint to add some sparkle!

Super quick and easy! You can paint the same thing on both canvases and put them in different rooms, or think of something else coordinating that you can paint on the other canvas. Have fun with it!!!

If you decide to try any canvas art, I would love to see what you do! Leave a link in the comments section and show it off!
