Colgate is launching a one of a kind toothbrush with built in whitening pen that will deliver whitening beyond surface stains! The new Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-in Whitening Pen promises Whiter Teeth in 2 days, and since it’s all built in to the toothbrush, it’s easy to use twice daily!
The new Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-in Whitening Pen provides effective whitening, affordability, AND convenience…all from one product.
I let my hubby test it out to see what he thought about it. Here’s what he says about his experience:
I recently tried the Colgate Optic White Soft Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen. I used it for a couple of days and added it to my morning and night-time routine for tooth brushing. Before we talk about the product and the results, let’s talk about what it had to work with. I recently had my teeth cleaned from the dentist a few days before starting this. Even after a professional cleaning, my teeth are not perfectly white. I drink coffee coffee almost daily. The days I don’t drink coffee are very few and far between. I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to coffee, but the only way I’d give it up is on the orders of a doctor (and even then I’d have to think about it.) So while I don’t have the ultra white teeth of a TV personality, they’re not really bad either. I’m brushing and flossing regularly and don’t have any other behavior or habits that would lead to discoloration.
Colgate Optic White Soft Toothbrush has whitening cups, polishing bristles and a tongue cleaner. I found the shape of the brush to be uncomfortable to use. In fact, after two days of using it I switched to my normal toothbrush. The head was an awkward shape for me being both shorter in length but taller in height. Nestled into the bristles are rubber pieces that contribute almost half of the space on the toothbrush head. All of these factors added up to an uncomfortable feeling when trying to brush the sides of my mouth I figured my other tooth brush would work just as well and not affect the results as long as it cleaned my teeth. I’ve been using the same brand and model for a couple of years now and talked it over previously with my dental hygienist and dentist.
The whitening pen is built into the base of the tooth brush. It was easy to understand how to initially open and use the pen. The pen has a small rubber applicator cap with small nubs, similar to a toothbrush you’d use on a baby or a pet. The applicator has a hole in the middle where the whitening gel comes out. I also felt the use of the pen was awkward at best. I didn’t feel I could discern whether or not the gel was getting applied evenly everywhere. It was easier to use in the front of my mouth than the sides. The pen design seems optimized for fitting in your toothbrush more than fitting into your mouth.
I tried this product for a few days and I think it worked a little. I felt my front teeth were slightly whiter than before, but I’d need to use the product longer term to really get a better idea. It would also help if I wasn’t making it harder by drinking delicious, dark roasted coffee every morning too. For me, the product isn’t comfortable to use and so I’ll probably look at another Colgate whitening product in the future.
So his experience wasn’t the best, but I will be different for everyone, especially if you don’t drink as much coffee as he does.
My daughter, on the other hand.. I’ve been noticing some discoloration on her teeth, and no matter how well we brushed her teeth, some of it was just there. I knew she has a dental visit coming up soon, but I didn’t want to wait. I let her switch her toothpaste to the Optic White toothpaste, and had her start using the mouth rinse. After about 3 days worth of use, her discoloration went away, and her teeth looked really white again! I was so happy, and so was she. She was worried about her teeth, and it bothered her that they weren’t white. Problem solved, for now…
