I recently received the opportunity to review an extremely interesting watch from a company named Jord. The Jord company makes unique watches that are one of a kind and hand-crafted with sustainable materials from all over the world. They have a large line of attractive wooden watches with distinct combinations of color and grain pattern that I have never seen anywhere else.
I opened up the box to see the “Delmar” model in a deep dark brown with a red carbon fiber face. The colors of the materials really jumped out at me. Because this watch is made from wood and natural materials, it is a striking contrast to watches made mostly of metal and plastic you normally see these days.
I took the watch out of the packaging and slipped it onto my wrist, immediately noticing the size. I’m a long time owner of G-Shock watches, so I’m used to big watches. The watch is much lighter than I thought it would be. It didn’t take me long to take a few links out of the band and I had the watch fitting comfortably in no time. The watch is very secure once it’s on. It has a double action locking clasp made of stainless steel and feels very solid when closed on your wrist.
Some of the other features this watch has are a hardened, scratch-proof glass face and a Citizen Miyota movement. The watch is designed to be splash proof but is not supposed to be submerged at all. I did not moisture test this watch!
I wore the watch for a week to get a feel for it and I had an overall positive experience. The watch felt great and I was complimented on it often. Many people thought the watch was very unique. The only caution about these watches is they may be a little more fragile than metal/plastic/rubber models.
If you’re looking for something classy and different, I suggest you take a look at Jord’s line of watches.
