For over 40 years Walmart has been an essential partner of The Salvation Army. Beginning Friday’s-Sunday’s from 11/28-12/14 Walmart will again be partnering with The Salvation Army to Fill the Truck which, with the help of local communities, will collect hundreds of thousands of toys and coats for children in need. This event will happen in all supercenters and larger Walmart stores that aren’t supercenters, but not Neighborhood markets.
Shoppers have the opportunity to drop off new, unwrapped toys and coats at the trucks or bins. These toys will be gifted to parents to give to their children on Christmas morning. To learn more about this program, head over to Walmart.com/fillthetruck and don’t forget to spread the word on Social Media with the official hashtag #FillTheTruck. If you donate, take a pic and share it on Instagram, Facebook, and /or Twitter!
Last year, Fill the Truck collections spanning three weekends collected more than 136,000 toys and 6,600 coats from generous shoppers. I always look forward to this opportunity, every year, to help out the local community.
If you don’t have a Fill the Truck bin in your area, you can still help out. At Walmart.com/fillthetruck, you can donate online from anywhere!
- You have from November 28 through December 25 to donate anywhere from $1 to $1,000 in the form of a Walmart Gift Card, not cash, for the benefit of the Salvation Army. You can donate as many times as you wish.
- 100% of gift card donations will be aggregated into $25 Walmart Gift Cards and sent to the Salvation Army’s 40 regional distribution centers across the U.S.
- The Walmart Gift Cards will be distributed by The Salvation Army to families in need so they can buy toys, clothing, gifts and more.
Online, in store, the opportunities are there! You just have to use them!
Other giving opportunities in some areas include the Salvation Army Giving Tree and Toys for Tots! Regardless of the event in your area, you’re giving to the local community, and to children who wouldn’t have a smile for Christmas otherwise. Thank you in advance for all you can give.
