Summer is (un)officially here, and that means cookouts, fire pit get togethers,  beach days and sports events. Phew! There’s a lot to do over the next few months!

Two things come to mind when I think about all the fun we have… We need a few good coolers, and a whole bunch of bug repellant!

Let’s start with the coolers! Walmart has a great selection of coolers from small, personal sized coolers to large one great for parties! We typically have two coolers for all of our Summer Get Togethers… One for the kids, and one for the grown-ups! This year, I was asked to check out the selection at my local Walmart store and get one for us to use…  So I did!

Coolers were super easy to find over in the seasonal area of my store… which just happens to be right up front. I knew we needed one similar to what we already had, and so I checked out the mid range coolers. After consulting with the BBQ King of the house… We decided that my best choices were between the Igloo Quantum and the Coleman Xtreme… Overall.. they were both very similar in size and price. The main differences were the lockable lid on the Igloo… which we didn’t think we’d need, but it’s a great idea for camping!… and the larger wheels on the Coleman, which actually made wheeling it around much easier… I ended up taking home the Coleman Xtreme… and yes.. we do like it! It fits a lot of bottled water and juice boxes!

On to the Insect repellant.. Here in Eastern North Carolina, bugs are bad!!! You can’t spend any evening out, unless it’s the bitter cold of Winter, without encountering some of our most annoying creatures… The weather gets warm, and they all start coming out.. But don’t worry… Walmart has you covered in this department too… Head over the the Sporting Goods/Camping area, and you’ll find more bug repellant than you could probably imagine.. They had everything from Sunscreen with Mosquito repellant in it.. Perfect for Baseball Games, and any other time you’re out in the sun all day and into the evening… to Repellant wipes, Lots of Deet and Deet Free options.

I picked up two bottles… I chose the OFF! Brand because it had less Deet in it, which is supposed to be easier on the kids, and I figured I’d try out a Deet Free option to see how well it really worked… I am a mosquito magnet… I don’t know why, but I will get bit while everyone around me doesn’t…  We put them both to the test one evening over a family S’mores session… I still got bit… I think next time, I’ll get the repellant with lots of Deet in it…
