Spring is beginning to make an appearance, and that means we’ll be doing a lot of cleaning up around the home, both inside and out. All this cleaning means we’ll be tired and sweaty from working so hard. I thought it might be a neat idea to make some scented soaps for us to stay clean with. They also make great gifts, and are awesome to have handy for guests! They are very easy to make, and don’t cost a whole lot! I bought most of my supplies online at Walmart.com and in my local Walmart store!
Here’s what you need:
Brick of Glycerin Soap Base- $8.89
Soap Colorant (if desired)
Dried flowers/leaves (if desired)
Here’s how you make it:
Cut squares of soap off of soap brick.
Melt soap base in a microwave safe dish. Start with 30 seconds, stir, and only 15 second increments thereafter.
Add 6 drops essential oil, or more if you want a stronger scent.
If you are adding colors, or dried flowers/leaves stir them in now.
Pour liquid soap into mold and place in refrigerator to cool and solidify.
Once soap has solidified, gently press on front of mold to release soap.
Wrap tightly with plastic wrap to retain freshness.
I made mine color coded! The solid green is eucalyptus with dried eucalyptus leaves. The transparent green is lemongrass. The transparent purple is lavender with dried lavender flowers, and the red/white is peppermint! My girls and I had so much fun making these, we can’t wait to get some more supplies and make more! We are planning to make some gift baskets with these and some home made scrubs and lotions too!
