Even after my gift guide was published, I’ve received some really neat pitches for Christmas Gifts. Check these out if you’re still looking for some cool gifts for someone special!
Books always make excellent gifts, especially for kids.. But what about books on DVD? Scholastic send us some really cool DVD sets! One is a Treasury of 50 Storybook Classics Animal Antics, and it features stories from some of my childhood favorites like Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type, Harry the Dirty Dog, and Make Way for Ducklings. The other set is Scholastic Story Book Treasures The Night Before Christmas… and more classic holiday tales. This set features The Night Before Christmas,The Twelve Days of Christmas, The Little Drummer Boy, and so many more stories for the holiday season! The part I like about these sets are that not only are they fun books to read, but these DVDs bring the stories to life.. which makes it even more fun for the kids!
If music is on your child’s mind… another great gift idea is the Putumayo Family Christmas CD. We were just recently introduced to the Putumayo CDs through our local library, and have loved them! This CD is no exception! This music really brings the Christmas season into our home featuring some great favorites as well as some songs we had never heard before! There are artists from all over featured on this CD!
Another great music idea, especially for the little ones is a personalized CD.
Name Your Tune (www.nameyourtune.com) is an exciting children’s music compilation that is made-to-order and personalized for each child. Children will hear their name more than 80 times throughout 14 much-loved songs, such as Old MacDonald Had A Farm (which becomes Little Monica Had A Farm), Wheels on the Bus and If You’re Happy and You Know It (becomes If You’re Monica And You Know It.) The CD is a great way to enjoy music, have fun, and learn together! We’d love to make a Name Your Tune CD for you to enjoy with your family if you have any kids, nephews or nieces!
We also include a line above and below the name on the CD, making it an even special personalized item. We put the:Name on CD (we can do more than 1 name, too!):
Message for above name on label:
Message for below name on label:
The message on the label might read something like this:

Name Your Tune sent us one CD with my girls’ names on it, and they were very excited! It was actually quite funny. They were on the couch watching a Christmas Show, and I put the CD into my computer and turned it up a bit so they could hear. At first, they were oblivious to the extra distraction… but the moment they heard their names, they sat up with a huge smile on their faces and came over to see what I was listening to. Every time their name came up, they giggled and danced around. It was really cute!
Toys are always on every kids’ wish list. This year, Jakks Pacific sent over a few things to check out. DunkaDoos, Lucky beebee and the latest in their Girl Gourmet line, the Cake Bakery where they can bake, design and decorate cakes. There’s even a pic of Chef Duff from Ace of Cakes on it! My girls are only 4, so some of these were a bit too old for them, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t check them out!
The DunkaDoos are pretty cute. They actually make a pretty neat stocking stuffer. They’re a small flattened stuffed animal, and all you do is place them in a small bag with a little bit of water, and they grow to full size!
The Lucky beebee collections are very cute! Great for any girl that likes to accessorize! We were sent the fashion dangle and charms. Too small for my girls, but very cute nonetheless. You can use these to make bracelets, necklaces, or even just clip them to a backpack or purse! There are so many charms to choose from, there’s something every girl would like! Some charms even have special features, like a real working snow globe, and propellers that really spin.
The Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery is meant for ages 8+, and we haven’t tried it yet, but it looks like it would be a lot of fun. I’ve heard of some people really liking the microwave type cakes, and some people not liking them, so we’ll have to see. As far as making the cakes themselves, it seems very simple. Mix it up and put it in the microwave for a little bit and let it cool before decorating. I know nearly nothing about decorating cakes, but this comes with fondant mixes and gel, and sprinkles. I’m sure any one who loves watching the awesome cake decorating shows would get into making these cakes! It also seems like a pretty neat party idea! It’s worth checking it out!
