Over the last couple of months, I’ve been working with Eggland’s Best Eggs to let you know a few key things about their products. I’ve had a lot of fun bringing awareness to their efforts to raise Breast Cancer Awareness, and their Nutritional Benefits. I wanted to close out this campaign here on Mommy Brain Reports with some more interesting information about Eggland’s Best Eggs that I found out while doing some research.
I remember, when I was younger, what a bad rep eggs were getting. Too much cholesterol was a big deal. People stopped eating so many eggs, and thus, people weren’t getting enough protein in their diets. Now, we know a lot more about eggs, and Eggland’s Best Eggs have some very distinctive qualities compared to an ordinary egg.
Here are a few of these notes taken from the Eggland’s Best website:
- 175mg of cholesterol compared to 213mg of cholesterol in an ordinary egg. Clinical tests have shown that people on a low-fat diet who ate 12 Eggland’s Best eggs a week did not increase their serum cholesterol level.
- 25% less saturated fat than in an ordinary egg. Cutting back on saturated fat is recommended for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels and cardiovascular functions.
- Higher in Vitamin E, at least 10 times more than in an ordinary egg. One Eggland’s Best egg provides 25% of a person’s recommended daily allowance of Vitamin E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps to protect body cells and tissues whether in the heart, skin, lungs, joints or elsewhere in the body.
- Higher in Vitamin D, at least 4 times more than in an ordinary egg and 20% of the recommended daily intake. Vitamin D aids in the body’s absorption of calcium, helping to form and maintain strong bones. It is important for maintaining muscle strength, healthy body fat levels and body tissue health.
- Higher in Vitamin B12, Eggland’s Best eggs are an excellent source of vitamin B12 and have 75% more vitamin B12 than ordinary eggs. The most important function of vitamin B12 is to form healthy red blood cells, which may help prevent heart disease.
- 4 grams of total fat compared to 4.5 grams in an ordinary egg.
- 115mg of Omega 3, compared to only 37mg in an ordinary egg. Omega 3 fatty acids are termed “essential” and are believed to be beneficial for heart health, brain and eye function, infant development, and alleviating hypertension.
You might be wondering how Eggland’s Best Eggs are so different from what we’ve called an “ordinary egg”. What makes their eggs healthier and better for me than any other egg I can get at the supermarket?
Well, according to Eggland’s Best, it’s all in what you feed the hens! The special hen feed they use is a patented all-natural, all-vegetarian feed that contains healthy grains, canola oil, and an all-natural supplement of rice bram, alfalfa, sea kelp and Vitamin E. Their feed contains no animal fat, no animal by-products and no recycled or processed food. Eggland’s Best never uses hormones, steroids or antibiotics of any kind.
Man, I wish I had a diet like that.. Healthy I mean :)Â Next time you’re in the store, consider trying out Eggland’s Best for a change!
PS: Just because the campaign is over, don’t forget about Breast Cancer Health! Eggland’s Best may not have the pink stamps on their eggs anymore, but you dont’ have to forget!

Egglands are the only eggs that I buy I also like the fact that they have coupons, because they do cost a little more. But my health and my familiys health is worth it.
