We used to use nonstick cookware, until we heard about the dangers of the chemicals used to make them, well, Â nonstick. We really try to get rid of things with scary chemicals in them, and changing our cookware is a great way to do that. When Walmart gave me the chance to try out a new Stainless Steel Cookware set from Better Homes & Gardens, I was excited to!
The  Stainless Steel Cookware Set came with a 1 covered Dutch oven with lid 6-qt. (5.7L), 1 covered sauce pan with lid 3-qt. (2.8L), 1 covered sauce pan with lid 1.5-qt. (1.4L), 1 covered deep skillet with lid 3-qt. (2.8L), 1 skillet 10″ diam., and 1 skillet 8″.  The first thing we noticed while unboxing the cookware was the weight of the pans. They are solid, and a comfortable weight for cooking with. We also really like the glass lids. I love being able to see my food when it’s cooking. The handles are smooth and easy to grip, and we were pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the pans.
When it came time to actually cook with these pans, I gladly handed everything over to my hubby. He used our Better Homes and Gardens Stainless Steel Cookware set for everything over the past couple of weeks. Hubby has cooked chicken, fish, beef, veggies, and more. I thought I’d try to help, ended up burning rice in my pan. Hey, I never said I was a candidate for Top Chef.. Anyhow, the point I’m getting at is, we’ve put these pans through the test, and they handled extremely well. They seemed to cook pretty evenly, even on our glasstop stove. We also noticed that they seemed to be pretty easy to clean out at the end of our cooking sessions.
If you’re looking for a new cookware set for your family, Stainless Steel is a good way to go, and I think the Better Homes & Gardens Stainless Steel Cookware set is a great option to consider! It’s only $149 from Walmart!

You are right to stay away from Teflon non-stick pans and stainless is a reasonable alternative, but harder to clean up (obviously). However, the new CERAMIC coated non-stick Green Pans are totally safe and outperform Teflon in every way. They are durable, transfer heat quickly and evenly (stainless, in my experience, takes longer), and last forever. The original GreenPan is the best, but there are others available too. Keep up the great work!
