I was offered a 3 month membership to ListPlanIt.com, a membership based site that provides several lists for all occasions you could possibly think of… Some lists I had never even thought of. It’s a very novel concept, in that everyone would love to be more organized with their lives.
My first time logging into the site, I was a little confused. I went straight for the larger menu in the center of the page, and every time I clicked on a list category, it took me to a page telling me I needed to sign up and become a member. Well, I was a member, so I needed to find another way into the lists. There is a menu on the left sidebar that had the same category list, so I tried that and I was in! I looked around at the summaries within all of the categories, and there were some lists I thought I could really use. I clicked on the list title, and was a little surprised when it just downloaded the file. I was hoping for a preview of the list, so I could see if it was actually something that fit what I was looking for. Unfortunately it wasn’t, so I moved on to the next one. I also noticed that when I downloaded the form, a new window opened up before the download started. I use Safari most often, and having a whole bunch of new windows open up when I was downloading was very bothersome. I opened up Firefox and tried it out, and it didn’t open up any new windows, so it’s definitely dependent on the browser you use.Â
Once I cleared up my screen, I went looking around for some more lists. There were some great ideas in there. I saw a family daily schedule, which is great for keeping track of daily activities, especially when you have children involved in lots of extracurricular activities. I personally think I can use the blog post planner & Month of Blog topics lists. I laminated these so I could reuse them over and over without wasting the paper.Â
I thought the good behavior chart and the potty training charts were good ideas, but they were very plain. Most things I get for the kids are prettied up with butterflies, fairies, and princesses. I find that they tend to make more efforts when they have something pretty to look at. Maybe I can find some stickers and decorate it myself. I also thought the Grandparent Instructions were a good idea! I know my parents have just a little bit different of a parenting style than my husband and I do, so it’s a good idea to have it all on paper for them so they know what they need to do when we’re out! I think it really helps you be able to relax! It’s actually great to use no matter who’s babysitting the kids.
There were also some really cute ideas in the relationships & fun sections. There were charts for writing down significant events in your relationship timeline, and one for listing out all the different reasons you love your significant other. Cute ideas for say, Valentine’s Day, or an Anniversary. Again, the lists are plain, so if you wanted to include hearts or wedding bells on it, you’d have to add them yourself, but the list is already made up for you.Â
ListPlanIt.com is a membership based site, offering you access to ALL of the available lists for a fee of $9.95 for a 3 month membership and $29.95 for a 12 month membership. They also offer Gift Certificates for anyone who would like to gift a membership to someone they think needs more organization in their life. All lists are downloaded in .PDF format, so they are good for anyone, regardless of what operating system is being used!Â
I also looked around at some of the different links on the sidebar and saw a store offering magnetic grocery lists! Now I wish my fridge could use magnets! I’m always looking for pen and paper to write down my grocery list, and I usually end up with some huge clunky piece of paper.
If you’d like to take a look around a little bit and check out ListPlanIt.com, here are some sample lists that you can check out. I guarantee you, if you are looking for some no frills lists, there’s quite possibly a list for just about any occasion on this site and new lists are constantly being added.  I know I’m going to check out the Party Planning lists for my girls’ 3rd birthday party that’s coming up this month.Â
The creator of ListPlanIt.com also has a blog at List Mama Blog that you can check out. She gives great ideas for making daily life easier. Most things are .. you guessed it.. LISTS! She has lists for reasons to start a blog, Lists for reasons why you should laugh every day, Lists of steps to prepare for a move, and so, so much more.Â
