*We have not had any issues with this product on our pet. Thanks
It’s Spring time here in North Carolina, and that means it’s the beginning of flea and tick season here. Last year, we had a bad time with ticks where we live, and it was just a pain. Flea and tick treatments can cost so much, and people may forget all about it because of that, but not only is it for the health and well being of your pet, but also for your family.
PetArmor, a new over-the-counter flea and tick product from FidoPharm, was just recently released and is now available exclusively at Walmart stores across the country. PetArmor contains fipronil, the same number one vet-recommended active ingredient as Frontline, the current top-selling brand name flea and tick treatment. This “branded generic” version is offered to consumers at significant savings versus Frontline, providing a safe and effective protection from disease carrying fleas and ticks, helpin to keep pets healthy all year round.
PetArmor comes in two varieties:
PetArmor (containing fipronil) which kills fleas, ticks, and chewing lice
and
PetArmor Plus (containing fipronil and S-methoprene) which kills fleas, flea eggs, ticks and chewing lice.
Ewwww… that all just sounds gross!
To get some of the good deals, you used to have to order online, and wait until it arrived to treat your pet… Now, you can get it on a regular shopping trip to Walmart or Sam’s Club.
Now, the point of all of this… Significant savings over the name brand, easy to buy and use, and healthy pets and family.
I am a participant in the Walmart Moms program. Walmart has provided me with compensation for my time and efforts on this post. Participation in this program is voluntary. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
this would probably be a good product if only you could find it. i went to walmart today and could not fine it, i also tried to order it on line and could not find it there on walmart.com. i live in grand bay,al and i go to store #866. but i sure would like to try it.
this product is not good. I put it on my great dane last night. She still has fleas. Sorry I wasted my money.
I just went to Walmart to get pet armor for my dogs. The largest one the others were sold out. 89lb. to 123lb I believe. They took it away as I went to purchase. The cashier said it was recalled. The cashier said it was unsafe but I don’t know what she really knew.
6/22/11
I attempted to purchase it last night also and the scanner said no sale and the supervisor said it was because of a recall. How irritating.
Went to purchase thursday morning…scanner said “do not sell,” also. cashier did not know why…i called store when i got home and spoke to manager, and she said store had to pull them off the shelves. Its a good thing that every attempt (4) I made to purchase them before that they were out of stock
I went to our Crossville, TN Walmart today, and had the same experience – it was pulled off the shelves. Can you tell me why? I had purchased one box of 3 at Sam’s, but it was for a heavier dog, (Sam’s did not have the small size.) so I went to Walmart to get the correct size . Can you tell me when or if it will be put back on the shelves? Thank you.
I work at a vet’s office. Pet Armor is claiming to be the same, but it is not. Pet Armor has a different carrier than Frontline. The carrier is causing burns, seizures and worse in pets. Some people have reported that the product just sits in the location that it was applied and never disperses throughout the body. Does not work, is not safe, do not buy.
Hello everyone. I have received an official reply to your concerns. Please take a look at the beginning of the post for the link.
Thank you.
while i Houston tx I bought Pet Armor. when I returned to GA, it had been pulled with no explaination. I used it on my small dog with no ill affects…..so far. What is the deal?

please go to petarmor.com/legal/… what do you think the pet armor’s attorneys are going to post “blah blah blah safe blah not recalled blah don’t sue blah we love dogs” I suspect they might have overlooked or covered up something that will open them up to a cause of action. I would avoid the product for now until we get to the bottom of walmart refusing to sell a blockbuster product.
I guess application of any product requires diligence from the pet owner. We have numerous cats and two dogs. Of course the idea of saving money in attempting to make us as well as our animals comfortable would be a plus. However as of today Sunday 6/26/11 I just came in from burying one of our cats. She has been with us for many years and losing her from attempting to help her makes it a little difficult. On Saturday evening around 6:00 pm we applied the PETARMOUR product to her and she went and laid down by the front walkway and never moved again. Again from the dilligence standpoint, we should have taken care to read the “lawyering” statement about consulting a vet when applying the product to less than healthy animals. Still in the past the same cats and dogs have had Frontline products applied with no problems. All I can say is if you have an older and maybe a smaller cat be REAL CAREFUL about using this product in the supplied dosage. I wish that a little more investigation would have allowed us to take the action of an earlier poster and we could have possibly avoided the death of a sweet little kitty by moderating the dosage.
We have used this product and we love it. i have not seen a problem so far with Pet Armor. we have used this on both our cat and dog and amazing after numerous other treatments we applied this to our pets and we r now flee free. My mother also had a “no sale” sign come up at the walmart register because of the false recall. but as of today 7-2-2011 was able to buy the product. So it must have been false other wise they would not have allowed you to be able to purchase it again! thank you!
DO NOT USE!!! I used pet armor on our 115 LB german shepard three weeks ago. I have worked 24 hours a day since then to help her overcome the side effects of this drug. Constant itching all night long, ears inflamed, loss of furr on her sides and $380 in Vet bills. She has been on Frontline for 7 years with no problem. The help line lady told me to call the spca!!! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
THIS PRODUCT IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING RECALLED FROM WALMART – THEY ARE SELLING WHAT IS STILL ON THE SHELF, AND THEN WILL NO LONGER CARRY THE PRODUCT.
I learned this today when I went to buy the product from a Walmart in Tulsa, OK. There was one left on the shelf, but for a larger size dog than I was looking. The website showed they had plenty in stock, so I asked the manager to check the back. I was told that they could not sell anything that was not already on the shelves as of Friday, due to the product being unsafe for animal use and a massive recall had started. I am so thankful that I found this out before I could have hurt my dogs.
I have used this product and it works but use it with caution. We just buried one of our belong pets this weekend because of this product. The first time using it wasn’t sure what was making them sick the vet wasn’t sure either. I did fell to tell the vet I had used this product on them, because that never crossed our mind. So when using it again after the thirty days like it said and letting it dry. The next morning our dog Mollie was sick once again, vomiting, and then pooping black tarry stuff. Then it hit us that we had put this product on her, but by then it was to late for any trestment. Mollie was poison and died. So I would think twice about saving a little money or the life of your beloved pet. What is more important?
Tried it what a joke. Does not work.
On the way to the vet in 20 minutes. Gave this to my dog Tues night, she started vomiting the next day, and has refused to eat and day two….still vomiting. I WILL NEVER use Pet Armor again, and I pray my 10 lb. Schnauzer mix does not die from this……be aware! Don’t buy it!
i am in shock!! i bought this about a month ago..upset that it has not helped my cats flea issue as stated. first dose, i would comb her to keep check. thought it needed to get into her system. applied the 2nd dose 2 days ago. she looks like i have not done anything…and she will be in the house around the clock for a few days. not sure what
to do about reapplying something…will not purchase again!!! i really hate to hear about the health issues/passing of the others …
put it on my 5 indoor cats and four days later, the fles are actually WORSE! I can’t wait 30 days to give them something else, so now what do I do?
I applied Pet Armor to my 1yr old Dachshund on Thursday 12/22/11 and Friday morning he was foaming at the mouth, vomiting, larthargic, and running a fever. So after $300.00 my Vet told me DO NOT USE PET ARMOR on him again. Please go to your vet and get the Real medicine, dont risk your pets life just because the advertisements says its the same. Do your own reasearch, I wish I had. I almost lost my Romeo.
Pet Armor does not work I have been giving it a shot for over 4 months on my cats and dogs and it has done anything to kill the fleas so I have wasted a lot of money that I don’t have on a product that does not work!!! I was so happy to see a product that claimed to work as well as Front line only cheaper but it turned out to be a huge disappointment, I really don’t understand why ANY flea treatment is so expensive anyway.
For some reason when a cheaper product comes on the market, all these claims of pets dying or getting sick from it go up. I haven’t seen anything on TV, no official statements from vets, nothing, so forgive me if I’m a bit skeptical. I have several friends who use Pet Armor and no ill effects so far. From what they tell me, Pet Armor is about as effective as Frontline; in other words, it’s not the best product fro fleas out there, but it’s not the worst either. And despite all the talk that it was going to be taken off the market for claiming to be like Frontline, or whatever the reason was, it’s being sold at more and more stores all the time. I doubt it’s going anywhere; good, because pet owners need cheaper alternatives WITHOUT SCARE TACTICS.
My husband bought Petarmour for our 2 dogs when we went on vacation. Our Lab seemed fine, but the next day our yorkie was playing and literally fell over instantly. We think she had a seizure. Not sure if this was from petarmour? She has never had a health problem in her life intil this! She was limp for about 20 minutes and slowly started to walk again. She seems perfect now…wondering if it was the petarmour??? Anyone else hear of seizures from this product??
This is 2nd month of using pet Armor on our 69 pd English BULLDOG. The first month we would find dead ticks attached to him. Also our Sampson’s hair started coming out in patches. He is inside 95% of time. Now after this second application he started scratching his face and has made several raw, bleeding, and weeping sores. And his face is very swollen. It killed the ticks, but now I’m afraid its gonna kill my dog. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Thank you……worried about Sampson
Just applied the product at noon today and already (it’s 4:30pm) my yorkie/pom is vomiting bright yellow mucus. He seems really shaky and only wants to lay down. I have left a message on the number given by Pet Armor but have not heard back from them. I will watch him very carefully and hope that he is ok.
I have 5 cats, two 8 and 9 years old and three cats, 1 year old.
Trying to save money in this tough economic time I bought Pet Armor.
It really worked well on them the first month. Then last month my elderly cat became paralized suddenly on her back legs after being treated. She literally lost most of her hair. I took her to the Vet and
after $340.00 she is starting to act normal again. He concluded she had a bad reaction to the Pet Armor. So even tho it is expensive to
buy name brand ( and I will purchase from the Vet only) I could have bought a name brand and it would have been cheaper in the long run. I love my cats and feel so bad I put her through this. Not trying to hurt Pet Armor’s name but I did want to share my experience.
We have used Pet Armor and they have down graded it…last year it worked WONDERFUL, cuz they compared it to Frontline Plus…this year they compare it to Frontline Top Spot and it doesn’t do the job….we have 3 small dogs and we had to go spend another $15 on a good flea spray ,cuz the were still having a flea problem and the yard and inside the house was treated with flea treatment…won’t buy it again…should and will go back to the Frontline Plus !!
i tried this product on my two small dogs.. as times are tough and trying to save some money.. not worth it… my shitz tzu hasnt not stop itching and has hot spots and missing hair all over him.. and my westie has had diarrhea and vomitting all over… waiting for a few more days as i cant afford a vet bill at this moment.. but after reading all the comments im afraid to wait..
Some of these posts are absolutely bogus. One poster says her pet has dire health issues due to this product and she’s leaving for a vet appointment in twenty minutes, but she stops and sits down to write a post at her computer when she says she thinks her dog may be dying. Really?!?!?!?!
to get meds off your pet…wash them with dawn dish soap, one or 2 times, use a fresh towle between washes,,,,must get posion off and stop it from entering the blood stream
I am a small breeder of Great Pyrenees Dog’s. It said it is safe to use on pregnant dogs. I had two pregnant females and almost every puppy died after using this product one week before one litter was born and about two weeks before the other litter. I lost 3 out of 5 in one litter and 9 out of 13 in the other litter. Im devestated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive never lost a puppy that was born alive untill after using the Pet Armor. Save your dog or their pups dont buy this product !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its funny most of these posts are all from frontline employees and such. Think about I’m frontline and I google armor and whats the best way to hurt my compatition then to post frivolous claims. The whole recall is patent infringement not pets being harmed. Sounds like someones cheaper formula is getting to close to someone’s overpriced product. If there was a mass wave of pets dying we would hear about it more then just some website posts. Hell if peoples dogs am cats gets the farts from a product we would see a commercial to call some lawyer if your pet farted to much after using pet armor. Fact it people scare tactics work really well. Use product as directed and yes crazy things can happen.
