I am always taking pictures of my girls. I want to try to capture every cool thing they do. It’s something I do more often than not. What do I do with all of the photos? Well, most often, they get put on my external storage and nothing happens with them. I don’t want to spend the money to print them all off, so only a select few ever get put into frames. Well, the Kodak PULSE digital photo frame is going to change that.
The Kodak PULSE is very cool. We actually bought these for our parents for Christmas last year, and they have loved them! I was so excited to get one to review for myself! Now that I have one here to really work with, I’ve found out there are some really cool features. First of all, the PULSE is a WiFi enabled device. Setup is fairly simple. The moment you plug it in, it prompts you to enter your network information, and walks you through setting everything up. Getting photos on to the frame is even easier. There are several options actually, which is great! You can add photos via SD card, USB drive, through the Kodak Pulse website, or through email! It makes it super easy for me to finally show off all of the photos I take of my little girls. When we have a special event, I just email some photos over to our parents’ frames and they can see everything within minutes. It’s great since our family all lives across the country in California. The Kodak PULSE digital photo frame comes in 7″ and 10″ versions. The 7″ version is available for $119.98 at Walmart.
The Kodak EASYSHARE M532 camera is a big deal in a small package. It’s a 14 megapixel point and shoot camera that has some really cool features. It even takes 720p HD video! You can see the specs on the Kodak website. Sharing your photos with this camera can be easy, if you use Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Orkut, or Yandex. You can even email photos almost automatically. Push the *Share* button and select the photos and the place to upload your photos. When you plug in your camera to the computer the next time, everything will get sent off for you. It DOES NOT send your photos off until you plug your camera into your computer via USB and use the Kodak EASYSHARE Software. There are a few really nice modes available like film effects, post-capture effects, and some picture enhancing features. One of our favorites is the Photo Booth option where it takes a series of photos just like the nostalgic photo booths from when I was a kid. I’m still super partial to my DSLR for portraits, but as an every day, keep in my purse camera, this is perfect. My girls have even had a really good time taking pictures of each other with this camera. It’s very easy to use, so easy, a couple of almost 6 year olds can use it! The Kodak EasyShare M532 is available in 3 colors for only $97.54 at Walmart.
I reviewed the Eye-Fi card long ago when it first came out. It was a pretty cool solution for automatically transferring photos from your camera to your computer, or several Social Networking sites, without the need for any cables or even removing the card from your camera. Setting up your Eye-Fi isn’t too bad. You use their interface to set up where your photos get uploaded to, and as long as you are connected to your WiFi network, it will upload photos nearly instantly. Walmart has the 4GB and 8GB Eye-Fi cards available on Rollback, at the time of this post, for $39.88 and $99.98 respectively.
How do they all work together?? Well, not very easily. The camera and the PULSE work well together, in that you can specify which photos you want to go to the frame for the next time you plug the camera in. The convenience of the Eye-Fi in this instance, isn’t so much. It will definitely get used in my other camera, but not much in my Kodak. The only other complaint that I have is that the Kodak PULSE Digital Frame is not able to be hung up on the wall! The stand is permanently mounted, and there is no way to hang it up. I’d love to have one that I can put on the wall! Minor issue. I know.
So, all of these items are pretty darn cool, and they’d make excellent gifts for Mother’s Day. If you haven’t picked something up yet, these might be an option for you!
