Walmart is working towards it’s goal of helping customers Save Money and Live Better! Walmart has recently launched something they’re calling Pick Up Today.
What is Pick Up Today? Pick Up Today is a new service that makes fast, free delivery possible for online shoppers. Customers can now shop online, on their time, choose Pick Up Today for selected items, and then go pick up their items later that day. No time spent searching in a busy store, or waiting in line. You are in and out and on your way!
There are no shipping fees, and Pick Up Today is available on thousands of items across many different categories, including Electronics, Media and Gaming, Toys, Sporting Goods, Kitchen, Home Decór and Baby (excluding apparel). I got the word on this and was so glad to get the chance to check it out!
I chose to try out Pick Up Today at the local Walmart Store that I shop at most often. At first, I had a hard time thinking about something to buy, but once I figured out a few options, I was off. I had a tough time actually finding anything that I had wanted to buy, and once I did, none of them were available for Pick Up Today. Everything I had wanted was coming up as Not Available in Store or Stock Status not available, so I couldn’t actually use Pick Up Today for those items. I looked around trying some items I had just seen in the store just the day before. It got a little bit frustrating, so I contacted Walmart about my troubles and was advised that although Pick Up Today is currently available for thousands of items, more are continually being added to the system. So some of the items I was looking for may not have been available that day, but most likely would be available soon. So, my mission to find something continued.
I was eventually able to find something for my girls. They saw a bucket of Lego’s that they wanted the other day at the Lego Store, but I told them that their birthday was coming up soon, and to wait and see. I found it on Walmart.com and it just happened to be available for Pick Up Today. I ordered it, and received my order confirmation via email and text. The order confirmation said that my item would be ready to pick up within 4 hours. Well, just about 30 minutes later, I received a text message saying that my item was ready to pick up. Now, if something comes up and you can’t pick it up right away, Walmart will hols your items for up to 48 hours. If after that time you still haven’t picked up your item(s), it will be returned to the shelf, and your method of payment will be refunded.
When I went to pick up my item, I went to the same place in the store where I pick up my Site to Store items. you can either print out your pick up confirmation, or if you signed up for text message alerts, you can bring that in with your photo ID. It was ready right away, and I was out of the store in less than 10 minutes.
Other than having a tough time finding items that were available to me for Pick up Today, it was a pretty good experience. It is surely a much more convenient option if you can find the items you need online and available for Pick Up Today. Pick Up Today is not available everywhere just yet. I used this service today for Christmas gifts and both items came to $164. When I got to the store neither item was available although I had already been charged and I was informed a refund had been issued but since it was the weekend and so close to Christmas i probably would not receive my refund before Christmas..since i purchased Christmas gifts this was a very distressing and as they had tied up my money i couldn’t even go to the shelf and choose something else. I need to warn people about my experience as Christmas is ruined. I have used pick up in store with Bestbuy and Sears for years and never had this happen. I do not recommend this service!
BEWARE of this pick up today crap. On Saturday I ordered my Grandson a Dodge Ram Ride On Truck that he wants for his birthday. At the price of $379 I found a store that had it available and bought it. Then based my day on making time to go pick it up. About 20 minutes later I recieved an email that stated my item is not in the store and would have to be shipped. It is now Monday night. I have no toy and am out 400 dollars and was on the phone for 2 hrs trying to find out when I can expect my toy to come in. Now I’m told it might be next Monday which is 3 days too late for his birthday party. I was told to find a store that had one in stock, go buy it there then cancel my order and wait for a refund. Great idea if I had 800 just laying around to tie my money up with. Terrible!!!!
