We love to get crafty here in the Mommy Brain household, and every time a holiday comes around, we jump at the chance to make something cool to show off. This month, of course, we have St. Patrick’s Day! It was one of my favorite holidays growing up, mainly because back then, my favorite color was green.
Well, to show off our St. Paddy’s Day spirit, we made a really cute Shamrock Wreath.. with a twist!
It’s so easy, inexpensive, and fun, and it really didn’t take a lot of time to make!
Here’s a list of the things you’ll need!
- Glitter Sticks 60 Pack — Item #16862
- Glitter Glue Variety Pack Basic Colors — Item #16809
- Large Paper Plate
- Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Construction Paper
- Scissors
- Pencil
Instructions:
Step 1. Gather all of your supplies.
Step 2. Use this [download id=”17″] to trace your shamrocks onto a piece of construction paper. We used mostly green, and made a few white shamrocks to add some color in. I also took a piece of black construction paper and freehand drew the shape of a top hat to cut out and add to the wreath.
Step 3. Cut out all of your shapes that you are using with your scissors and set aside!
Step 4. Once everything is cut out, choose a few items that you’d like to decorate with the Glitter Glue. Let the kids have fun with this one. We did outlines, and other designs. Try to keep the lines thinner so that they will dry faster.
Step 5. While the glitter glue is drying, take your paper plate and cut the center out of it to make our wreath. We don’t typically keep paper plates at home, so instead, we decided to reuse one of our lunch drink boxes. We opened it all the way up and traced a couple different sized mixing bowls to make our circle wreath form.
Step 6. Using your glue sticks, glue your shamrocks and/or other shapes down to the circle. It’s totally ok to make them overlap if you have enough! It will add some depth to your wreath. We alternated plain shamrocks, decorated shamrocks, white shamrocks and leprechaun hats on our wreath.
Step 7. Wrap a Glitter Stick around the top of the plate to create a hanger in order to display your handmade Shamrock Wreath!

We had so much fun with this project. The girls have decided to take it to school with them on Monday to show off to the class.
Happy Crafting!
