After my “lovely” experience this morning upgrading my iPhone firmware to the infamous version 2.0… I have finally had time to play with some of the updates and collect a few of the free applications that they have available in the iTunes store.. They are pretty cool!
One thing I noticed right away is that there is now a contacts icon on my screen. Previously, I had to go through my phone to get to any of the contacts, and that was a pain! Now I tap the icon, and it’s all right there! So much easier to find everything I need. I can make phone calls from there as well, which is just as convenient, if not more so than having to go through the phone icon. I can still get to my contacts through my phone icon, just as before… Maybe a good thing until I get used to the contacts icon… With my “Mommy Brain” it might actually take me a few days. LOL
There, of course, is a new App Store icon on the screen.. Of course they’d make it super easy for us iPhone addicts users to get to all the apps we could possibly need at our fingertips… I mean, who wouldn’t want to turn their phone into a mooing cow noise maker? LOL.. ok, I got that one for my girls to play with. I did find an app called SpeechCloud that allows your iPhone to voice dial. I’ve been waiting for the iPhone to be able to do that! I also found the Remote app that turns your iPhone/iPod Touch into a remote control for iTunes on your computer. Now, I’m wondering, is it wrong to sit at the computer, mouse in one hand, iPhone in the other, and use the iPhone to remotely control my iTunes? I didn’t think so…Â
A few other apps I downloaded are:Â
- Pandora Radio, an interactive internet radio service.
- Scratch, a DJ type scratching application. I got this one for the hubby.
- Jirbo Arcade, a few cute little games to keep me, or the girls busy.Â
- Box office, a cool app that tells me what movies are playing when and where.Â
- Check Please, an app that calculates your tip and split if you have more than one party present at a meal out.Â
- Weight track, does just what it says it does… Track your weight by date, and tells you how much more you need to gain/lose to meet your goal weight. Â
