Spring is in the air… Literally! I live in Coastal North Carolina, and every Spring we have this amazingly ridiculous “pollen-fall”… EVERYTHING gets coated in this layer of yellow. It’s absolutely horrible for allergies, and it MUST be cleaned up quickly! We’ve had crazy weather here.. Warm, cool, warm, cool, and the plants aren’t all entirely sure what they’re supposed to be doing right now, so they kinda just do a little of everything…. constantly.
Well, as far as cleaning products go, I love certain ones, but they may not always be the best for the environment. I’ve been working towards finding more earth friendly products, and when Walmart and Seventh Generation offered me a chance to get the job done in a much more earth friendly manner, through the Lorax Spring Cleaning Challenge, I couldn’t say no.
We were challenged to replace 3 of our normal cleaning products with 3 of the Seventh Generation products. The products we were sent to try out were the Seventh General Natural 2x Concentrated Laundry Detergent, Natural Dish Liquid (Lavender Floral and Mint), Disinfecting Wipes, Disinfecting Bathroom Cleaner, and Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner. The Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner in Lemongrass & Thyme Scent. I kind of happen to be a bleach-aholic. I love using it in my bathrooms, to keep my counters clean, etc. But I know the fumes are just bad for us. I have used many other cleaners, but they don’t seem to get things clean, or they don’t disinfect, so I don’t trust the germs are gone. I especially worry about it in my kitchen, when dealing with the sink, or counter tops! With the Seventh Generation Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner, I get the best of both worlds. Clean, Safe, and 99% of those germs are gone.
The Seventh Generation Natural Dish Liquid is awesome. It is gentle on hands, and cuts the grease quite easily. With the lavender and mint scent, it was hands down, my favorite new product. I absolutely love lavender scented anything. I must mention that this product, is
- non-toxic, which means, safer for the inquisitive kids who happen to dig playing under the kitchen sink.
- biodegradable, which is great for the environment, water, etc.
- and hypo-allergenic, i.e. safe for just about anyone to use.
Last, we switched out our disinfecting wipes. I ALWAYS have some sort of disinfecting wipes strategically placed around my kitchen. They come in so handy, especially when dealing with raw meats, etc. If you are cooking chicken and some raw chicken goo drips onto the counter, these wipes will clean it up. Another great thing, is for cold and flu season. These might be great in a day care, or educational environment because they are safe to use around kids, AND they kill the Influenza A Virus. Great for wiping down shared desks, and toys. My only question is, “Do these come in bulk yet? ”
Now, while I was cleaning up with all of these fabulous products, my girls were enjoying their time reading the Lorax book that was included in our package. They recently saw the movie in theaters, and have been asking me for the book ever since. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend it. My girls have really been interested in recycling, and helping to save the planet. It’s a great book! Check it out!
