Did you know that the PEDIGREE® Brand donates food to animal shelters and that your purchases help support that donation? During the month of May any PEDIGREE® purchase made in Walmart will generate a bowl of food to a local shelter.
In the past, my husband and I used to visit the pet shelters in our area, just hoping to find a dog that would be a perfect fit for our family. We checked almost weekly. My husband was interested in a specific breed, a Miniature Schnauzer, because he had one as a child, and he remembers it being awesome with him. We knew the chances were pretty slim that we’d actually find a Miniature Schnauzer at a pet shelter, but we had hope.
I’ll never forget the day that we went to visit the shelter and were turned away because of a possible kennel cough epidemic. We were both pretty sad, since we really loved spending time with the dogs there, even if it was just one or two at a time. Giving them a chance to be petted or played with was always a good part of our day. The young lady at the desk thought she had recognized us and asked if we were the ones looking for a Mini Schnauzer. We told her that we were, and she said that she thought that one had come in a day or so before. She wasn’t quite sure of the breed, but she offered to go get him anyway so we could see him. Sure enough, out comes this poor, sweet, skinny, salt and pepper Mini Schnauzer. We both about fell over.
He was in good spirits, despite his obvious lack of nutrition. We were told that he was found wandering the desert. They didn’t know for how long, and he wasn’t wearing a collar… No one had claimed him. We took him outside to play with a tennis ball, and instantly, he perked up. This was it. We wer giving this sweet dog his forever home. We started the paperwork to adopt him, called the local Vet, and made sure to get him checked out, especially since he had probably been exposed to Kennel Cough.
He ended up living a very spoiled and loved life.
Not every dog gets this chance, and we were very excited that we were able to give him this chance.
Not only is Pedigree a big supporter of animal shelters, but so is Pet Armor. As part of the PetArmor® Protection Promise, PetArmor® is donating up to 20,000 flea & tick protection treatments to the ASPCA® and shelters in need from coast to coast. They need your help though! All you need to do is “Like” their Facebook Page during the month of May and choose which participating shelter you want them to send a treatment to!
We have used Pet Armor in the past and have been really happy with the results! We like it because of it’s cost savings and effectiveness at keeping pests off of our dog and out of our home! Check it out!
