We all know that teachers are super important in our world. They help teach our kids what they need to know and mould out children in to the smart grown ups that they will be someday.
This weekend, Ken Ehrlich Productions, Anschutz Film Group/Walden Media, and AEG present TEACHERS ROCK presented by Walmart and Walden Media’s upcoming feature film “Won’t Back Down,” a special tribute concert celebrating teachers and education and benefitting several non-profit organizations, featuring some of the biggest names in music, film and sports.
The TEACHERS ROCK concert will feature scenes from Walden Media’s upcoming motion picture“Won’t Back Down,” released by 20th Century Fox. The film stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis, who play two determined mothers, one a teacher, who will stop at nothing to transform their children’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children. This powerful story of parenthood, friendship and courage mirrors events that are making headlines daily. 200 deserving teachers from the LA area have been invited to attend for free and proceeds from all ticket sales will benefit three non-profit organizations: DonorsChoose.org, Feeding America and Teach for America.
Walmart has also given us a special place to nominate our favorite teachers to be inducted in the Teacher Wall of fame. Between now and September 20, you can nominate an outstanding teacher to the Wall of Fame on the app, and each day, a nominee will be inducted and given a $500 gift card. This amount is significant because teachers spend $500 a year of their own money a year on items for the classroom.
