For the past few years being a Walmart Mom has also been a way that I can truly give back to my community, and this year is no different.
Walmart gave us $100 to do some Christmas Shopping for a charity of our choice. Of course, Toys for Tots is the first charity that comes to mind when I ask my kids where they want to donate, so we were off to Walmart to do some toy shopping!
We really wanted to mix it up and get toys that would be great for boys and girls. Having two girls, I’m great at shopping for girl toys, but always have a tough time picking out toys for boys. I enlisted the help of a friend who has a son, and we were able to pick out some really cool things!
We found:
Candyland, Chutes & Ladders, Battleship, Connect 4, Memory Sesame Street & The Original Memory Game and Angry Birds Star Wars! We grabbed 10 Hot Wheels cars, 4 packs of Legos, a Wish I Was Tea Set, Two Barbie Dolls, and a Littlest Pet Shop Toy. I think 25 toys was actually pretty good!
We donated everything we bought to our local chapter of Toys For Tots. My girls are very generous, and love to help other children. They know that they are very lucky, and very blessed to be able to have the things that we have. They also know that they need to give to others that need whenever they can. I’ve tried to instill that value in them by taking them along with me when we donate things so that they can be a part of giving.
I am very grateful for being a part of the Walmart Moms, and being able to be a part of helping out my community whenever possible. I couldn’t give as much as I do without opportunities like this.
Giving back is a huge part of Walmart culture all year and specifically during the holidays as they are continuing with their 12 Days of Giving program this year. Check out everything Walmart is doing to help communities all over our country!
I am a participant in the Walmart Moms program. Walmart provided me with compensation for my time and efforts on this post. Participation in this program is voluntary. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
