Starting off the new year organized is always a good thing. Walmart offers so many great products to help get things in order in your home. They have anything from baskets and closet organizers to bins and kitchen organizers. We were given the opportunity to organize something in our home, so we jumped at the chance. We decided to start small with this project, and organize our coat closet in our living room.

As you can see, we had a decent start to organizing, but it just wasn’t enough. The girls’ hats, scarves and gloves all kept falling off of the tiny hooks that I had stuck onto the door. The coats are just tossed into the closet, or onto hangers, the shelf on top is completely full of random things, and the floor is full of who knows what. I really wanted to put things in order and fit the vacuum cleaner in the closet, so it wouldn’t just sit outside of it.
I headed out to Walmart to check out what I could possibly use to get some sort of order in here. I thought of all of the things I had to organize, and walked over to the closet organization area. 
I bought a hat organizer, an shelf/shoe organizer, a medium sized fabric box, and a few other really cool things for other parts of the house. I even found these really neat reusable labels! These are perfect for labeling any boxes or bins that we use around the house.
When I got home, I took absolutely everything out of the closet so I could start clean. Only the items that really needed to go back in, went back in, but it had to have a home.
Here’s how it ended up:
I used the hat organizer to keep them easily reachable, not just tossed onto the shelf. I used the fabric shelf/shoe organizer for smaller items. Scarves, gloves, hats, etc are easier to reach for the kids, and have a home where they won’t fall off/out. Our coats are hung up according to size. Only two coats per person are allowed in the closet. One heavy coat, and one lighter coat. The medium fabric box went on the shelf, and loose items were put in there. That left room on the floor for our air beds, and yes, the vacuum cleaner!
I think I did pretty well here. I have a few other places to organize in my home, but they’re much bigger projects. I can’t wait to get everything all set up though! It feels great starting off the new year fresh!
