Painting my house is always an adventure. We are trying to keep colors bright and fresh, and this project allowed us to do just that!
At the end of March, Walmart launched Disney Paint. Disney paint features more than 100 unique wall paint colors (with Disney inspired names such as “Ariel’s Tail”), specialty top coats that you apply to a painted wall such as “Speck-tacular”, which has glitter in it, Metallic paint that is available in a variety of colors, chalkboard paint that is available in a wide variety of colors (you pick out the color you want it in), and glow in the dark paint. There are so many ideas you can decorate with these paints!
Now, when you think Disney, of course, you think child’s room. It doesn’t have to be though! While we did pick some pretty cool colors that will eventually make it into my daughters’ bathroom, we also chose a blue that was absolutely perfect for our downstairs bathroom.
Our house is slowly changing from the nasty flat beige color that they slapped on our walls before we moved in, to some really happy colors.
Here are a few pictures from the downstairs bathroom painting that I did. From taping to finishing up painting, it took me two days and one coat of paint, with a few touch ups. I actually painted everything with a brush, rather than a roller. I know rollers cover more area, but they always seem to soak up so much paint, and I have to do multiple coats. For a room as small as a bathroom.. it wasn’t a huge deal. We used a really cute color, called *Blustery Day* from the Winnie the Pooh Nursery Collection.. It was just the perfect shade of blue that I had been looking for! Now that the paint is done, I have to finish cleaning up and get a new cabinet since mine broke, but other than that, I’m really happy with this paint. (We did not use a specialty paint in this room)
My daughters’ bathroom is next.
They chose a paint color called *Pretty as a Princess*. It is definitely a pretty shade of pink/purple, but it ended up being too bold for such a small space. We decided to instead, use it as an accent color. I ran back to my Walmart and found a complimenting color called *Fairy Flight* which is a much lighter shade of pink/lavender. The walls will be covered with *Fairy Flight* and the girls have asked for *Pretty as a Princess* to be splattered on the wall. We will then cover the walls with the glitter paint. I will update as soon as this is complete. I’m in the middle of the bast coat right now, but it’s looking excellent!
If you’re looking for some really snazzy themes for your kids’ rooms, or even just a pretty color for any other room in the house, you can find some great ones at the Disney Paint kiosk at Walmart! One gallon of interior eggshell latex paint cost me $27.88.
