Get Ready for National Bike Month

May is National Bike Month and as the weather gets warmer it’s a great way to spend time with your friends and families outdoors. Biking is also becoming more popular as an inexpensive way to get around, and it’s a great form of exercise!

I love when I get the chance to go out bike riding with my friends. We have a group of ladies that gets together, usually once a week, and rides the bike trail out here, and we have so much fun! We usually ride about 11 miles, but this week, we rode 23.5! It was a great ride!

Now there are a few tips that I have to make your bike riding safer, and easier!

Of course, there’s the typical things, like checking tire pressure and brakes, making sure you have a spare/tool kit with you. There’s also wearing a helmet! But Walmart helped me solve a couple of other things I had thought about, but never taken action on. Walmart gave me $35 to spend on some things I needed to make my bike riding a little safer! Here is what I was able to get!

1. Keep Hydrated. Anytime you ride, you should keep a water bottle with you. Walmart has a Zefal Insulated Water Bottle and Cage for only $14.98. It’s super easy to install to your bicycle frame, and this bottle keeps your water nice and cold. With the Summer heat coming up, you need to make sure that you keep your body properly hydrated!

2. Another thing I worry about, is having my cell phone easily accessible. I found the Schwinn Deluxe Bike Accessory Bag for $9.96, to hold my cell phone close. It makes it super easy to answer any important phone calls, or just listen to my music! In case I really need it, I know exactly where my phone is.

3. Being visible to cars is very important. Even though we ride on the trails, there are some parts where were we are crossing or not far from traffic. The Bell Head and Tail Light Set is available for $34.97. While I couldn’t locate it online, I was able to get just the tail light at the store for approximately half that price.
