I’ve recently had the chance to check out these new Transforming Headphones from Flips Audio… These headphones are not like any other headphones. The Flips Audio are revolutionary headphones that transform from a “solo” listening experience to a “social” one when flipped.

So, enough of the pitch, let’s get down to business.
Yes, they sound pretty good as headphones, and they’re actually quite comfortable, even with my earrings in. When you flip the ear pieces out to share your music, you can totally hear the difference as the headphone turn into speakers for everyone to hear! That is really neat for a quick way to share music at a picnic, barbecue, or just hanging out around the house. The Flips Audio Headphones are rechargeable via a micro USB cable do need a charge to transform into speakers, so you want to make sure that you’ve charged it fully if you’re going to listen via the speakers for a longer amount of time. The speakers are pretty powerful when you compare them to the phone or tablet’s built in speakers. They make it much easier to actually share a video, or music!
We compared the Flips Audio headphones to another “Higher-end” brand of headphones, and we were able to notice just a bit of difference in the sound. We tried various types of music, and while they had decent sound quality for just about any type of music, most of the music that had a lot of bass to it sounded a little “tinny”… Of course, those headphones cost 3x as much as the Flips Audio headphones, and they can’t turn into speakers either.
There are a lot of really expensive headphones on the market right now, and for the price, they are really pretty good! My kids actually took them over for using with their online games. There is not a microphone attached to these headphones. They are strictly for listening… So you can use them to listen to music on your phone, but if you get a phone call, don’t forget to disconnect the headphones so the caller can hear you!
All in all, we think the Flips Audio Headphones are a great idea, especially if you happen to want to share your music with friends while on the go… They are affordable, and make a great idea for a gift!
