Yes, I truly did get to meet Garth Brooks, and it was the most awesome experience ever. When I heard that I was chosen for this trip of a lifetime, I couldn’t believe it. I was so excited to meet one of my favorite Country Music artists of all time. I had no idea what to expect. Would he be as cool as I’ve heard? Would this be just a PR trip? or Would I be able to relax and just enjoy the ride? This trip, while it was meant for us to learn more about the boxed set that he has coming out, ended up being like a visit with friends. Garth, and everyone we met there, were so awesome, and generous! They really made us feel like we were all just good friends hanging out for the day!

The day started off with a trip through the Country Music Hall of Fame, which was really pretty cool, and then we headed down to Broadway to do a little bit of sight seeing. From there, we found the Parthenon in Nashville, which is a full scale replica of the one in Athens. It was neat, but we were really looking forward to what was coming next. We were heading to meet Garth Brooks at his private recording studio. We headed towards the studio, starting to get excited, and nervous all at the same time. As we pulled up to the studio, we were greeted by Garth’s manager, and invited in. It was so cozy, and comforting with the fireplace going. It was just like home. After a brief moment, we were invited up to the kitchen for lunch. It was absolutely delicious… As we sat around the table eating lunch, and joking around with everyone, in walked the man himself. He asked us about our families, and our work. We talked a little bit about his music, and family, the history of the music studio, and how the visit would go. We couldn’t wait.

When we finished up with lunch, we met up downstairs and Garth told us all about the new Boxed Set. He showed us the different CD’s and explained a little bit about all of them. We got to look through the booklet, and he explained the meaning behind everything in there. It was really neat, being able to get a hands on, close up look at a boxed set from the person who created it all. Just wow.

Garth showed us around inside the recording studio, itself, explained some of the fun they had while recording various songs. I learned so much that day. We talked about the musicians that come in to play on his music, and some of the fun they had while recording “Friends in Low Places” (That really is a beer can pop tab that you hear in the song), “Two Piña Coladas”, and even some of the songs on his new CD’s. We then headed into the “Control Room” where we got the chance to listen to samples of the music that is in the boxed set. What I absolutely loved is that, not only did we get to hear the music, but we really got to “experience” it too. Garth gave us little back stories to the songs he showed us. We learned why he chose the songs that he chose for the albums within the boxed set. We heard stories about his childhood, and music from other artists that he really looked up to as an artist himself. It was just awesome… Definitely an experience I’ll never forget.
