When I think about Christmas decorations, I think of ribbons and bows, and snowflakes. I, of course think about Christmas trees, and I almost instantly think about poinsettias! Those plants are just beautiful to look at. The bright reds and bold greens make any holiday decor, that much more festive.

I’ve always seen them in stores, and as decoration at church, but I’ve never considered having them in my home as decoration. I never even thought about how I could incorporate them into my home holiday decor, until this year. I was asked to check out the Poinsettia collection at my local Walmart stores, and get a few to include in my home decorating this year. I went shopping and headed straight for the garden section. I found a good selection of potted poinsettias, ranging in price from $2.47 for the 4 inch potted plants to $10.88 for the 8 inch potted plants. I purchased 4 of the medium sized 6 inch plants at $3.67 each. I also bought a couple of the small 4 inch plants to use as accent decorations. I did find a couple of small planters out in the garden section that I could use to repot the small plants in so that water wouldn’t get everywhere when I watered them. When I got everything home, I placed everything around the fireplace to add a little color blast to my living room. I replanted the small plants, and added those in to give the decor some depth, and it looks awesome.

I know it’s not much, but adding an extra splash of color to my living room helped get me more motivated to get the home decorating done. I’m a little behind on my holiday decorating right now, because I’ve had so many home projects keeping me busy, and to be honest, our weather has been so crazy, it doesn’t feel like it should be Christmas time… but  this makes me really want to get it all done, so I can finally get myself into the season.

Poinsettias are great for holiday decorating and make wonderful gifts! Walmart has them available in various sizes and colors, so they are sure to have something that fits everyone’s decorating needs, and most importantly, their budgets. You can find the foil potted plants, 6.5 inch planters, and even larger 10-12 inch bowls and planters available with prices ranging from $2.47 to $24.88 depending on how large you want to buy! The decorating possibilities are nearly endless..
