New Year’s Eve is a special day for me. We don’t usually go out on New Year’s Eve, but rather, we invite  all of our friends over to hang out and enjoy some excellent cooking. It’s a family event for us, and we love having the opportunity to give everyone a fun, safe and family friendly event to ring in the New Year.

Another reason that this day is special for me, is that it’s my birthday. This year, I’ll be 30, again… Um, yeah… We will be celebrating! We have already invited our guests over for a party, including lots of great food, and drinks…

We are planning a pretty big menu, as we do most years, and this year, we’re having fun with it!

Walmart gave me $20 to do some shopping for New Years, so we headed out to one of my local Walmart stores to see what they have! We immediately found some fun things, and all at great prices too!

As soon as we walked in, we saw all the fun noise makers, and party tiaras. They had everything from Black, Silver and Gold, to bright and bold and colorful. My girls went crazy over the Pink set. Of course, they didn’t have a Purple one … For only $5, this package had enough favors for 4 people, including noise makers, tiaras, streamers and party poppers. FUN! We also found Pop-Its for only $1 per pack, my kids love these. On another shelf, we found a big pack of nothing but party poppers for only $5. We decided to buy these because we are planning on having quite a few people here. These would go a little farther!

Ok, our fun shopping was done, but now we needed to get to the good stuff. We needed some bubbly! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve felt that no New Year’s party was complete without Martinelli’s Sparking Apple Cider. Of course, there are a few options in non-alcoholic bubbly now. Martinelli’s not only has Apple, but they also have Sparkling Apple/Cranberry now.  It’s yummy! I picked up one of each! Welch’s also has sparkling Grape Juice now! We picked up a sparkling White Grape Juice and sparkling Red Grape Juice!

Of course, what party is complete without FOOD??? Naturally, we grabbed all the makings of our home made smoked salsa, chips, and other party foods, but when we have a party, we have lots of really good food. We decided to check out the meat department, and found some lamb that we could put on the smoker, along with with some of the other things we bought. Hubby is a master with the grill/smoker!

All in all, we got a lot of what we needed for our New Year’s celebration from our local Walmart, and at super prices!
