We love having friends over for dinner to celebrate various events, and especially throughout the holidays. One thing that I am super excited about this year, is our brand new dining table, made by my hubby. He has worked so hard on it, and it’s awesome to finally get to show it off!
I have been looking for some really cool ideas on how to decorate my new table, and this year, I’ve been lucky enough to meet with the folks at Better Homes & Gardens on my trips to Bentonville and learn some really cool tricks. I’ve already shared my Holiday Centerpiece with you in a previous post. That was fun and easy to make, and definitely added some festive color to the dining room. This post, is a quick DIY on how to make custom napkin rings that are very pretty, and can double as gifts for your guests! Check it out!
What you need:
1. Save your paper towel rolls! You can make up to 6 rings from one roll.
2. Hot glue gun & glue
3. Scissors
4. Ribbon of your choice. I used red satin with wire ends, and silver sequin ribbon
5. Various ornaments. Clip style ornaments work great for this!
How you make it:
1. Cut rings from your paper towel roll to match the width of your ribbon. I was able to cut 6 out of ours.
2. Carefully use your hot glue gun to secure ribbon to the paper towel rings. For the red ribbon, I was able to cover with a single strip. With the silver sequin ribbon, I wrapped it twice around the ring and secured it with the glue.
3. Clip the ornaments to the rings. You have two choices here. Either cut a hole in the center of the ring and clip to that, or simply clip the ornament to the top of the ring. That’s what I did. It was easier, and I didn’t have to fuss and worry about cutting myself!
That is it!! Simple, right? And oh so pretty!!! Check out how they turned out on my table!!
I picked up all of my supplies at my local Walmart store! Each ornament was $1.98 or less. The spool of ribbon was less than $3, and the paper towel rolls were, well… saved from the garbage! This is super inexpensive, and very easy to add some sparkle to your dinner table! You can even offer the ornaments to your guests as a gift! They can choose whichever seat they want, and keep the ornament for their tree!
I’d love to see what you come up with!
